The "Stop the War on the Poor" national campaign is a collaborative effort between the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), the High Impact Leadership Coalition (HILC) and Americans for American Energy (AAE).
Congress of Racial Equality
Founded in 1942, CORE is the third oldest and one of the "Big Four" civil rights groups in the United States. From the protests against "Jim Crow" laws of the 40's through the "Sit-ins" of the 50's, the "Freedom Rides" of the 60's, the cries for "Self-Determination" in the 70's, "Equal Opportunity" in the 80's, community development in the 90's, to the current demand for equal access to information, CORE has championed true equality. As the "shock troops" and pioneers of the civil rights movement, CORE has paved the way for the nation to follow.
CORE has been led for the past 40 years by Roy Innis. Go here to learn more about Roy Innis and CORE's organization.
High Impact Leadership Coalition
The High Impact Leadership Coalition is led by Bishop Harry Jackson, Jr. The Coalition exists to protect the moral compass of America and be an agent of healing to our nation by educating and empowering churches, community and political leaders.
The Coalition conducts educational summits with leaders around the country that empower High Impact leaders to make grassroots influence in our communities, states and nation.
HILC developed a Black Contract with America on Moral Values that lists six major agenda items that can close the gap of righteousness (personal morality) and justice (social action) in America. The Coalition’s goal is to have one million people sign the contract and do the following:
- Pray for spiritual renewal in America
- Promote the values of this contract
- Vote for future legislation that encompass these points
- Vote for politicians, regardless of party, who champion these values.
Americans for American Energy
Americans for American Energy (AAE) is a non-profit public education organization that is led by Wyoming State Senator Bill Vasey (D).
Americans for American Energy was created to educate the American people, and policymakers at the federal, state and local levels, on the urgency of working together to help America increase its energy independence.
Our grassroots supporters believe that America must strive to lessen our dependence on foreign sources of energy, and that we must work to produce more American energy for America from all of the resources with which our nation has been blessed.
Also serving on the Board of Directors of AAE are Colorado State Senator Bill Cadman and Utah State Representative Aaron Tilton.
